We also run a Folk Club which is open to anyone: all you need is an interest in Folk Music.
Currently it meets as a playing and singing session on Monday evenings from 9.00 p.m. in the Coach and Horses, Highland Square, off Blackboy Hill, Clifton (map location here). Our intention is to provide a forum where both 'beginners' and newcomers and the more experienced are all welcome.
We play a range of tunes from the English and Irish traditions, plus a few from further abroad, but are always ready to hear something new, whether tune or song! There is usually a somewhat tortured 'theme' for the week, but people are free to play or sing what they want. If you don't play an instrument, just come along and listen.
Once a term, or more frequently if we feel like it, we hold a scratch ceilidh instead of the session. Bring instruments, CDs, and suggestions for a do-it-yourself scratch ceilidh. Your chance to play, call, and dance your favourite dances. 50p contribution to PA hire is usually asked for from non-performers.
